e-books on portable devices are the students future?

While many schools across the country are heavily promoting the usage of e-books to make reduce the costs and make it easy for students, the hard copies of the same books are still outsold.

As a current student I have to say that is better for students to use e-books. I completed my first degree using hard copies which is still ok for me. With e-books students save money and can carry around all their library without the actual need of carrying something in their bags because most of this systems are internet based.

However, I also have to say that e-books from certain developers and publishers are just simply not good. As the school I attend is Devry, I will expose some of the weaknesses of the company MyScribe:

1. It takes ages to load
2. I doesn't allow students to export the books to portable devices such iPad, Kindle, iPhone, Palm and other devices
3. Browsing the book is a process that can take up to minutes instead of seconds, slow system.
4. You need an specific software
5. Source like amazon are up to 80% cheaper.

Other systems and schools have similar problems. Therefore I consider the future is with devices like iPad and Kindle.
