SSL - What it is, how to get it and what it is for

If you are running a website or websites with an online shop of any size, securing the information of your customers should be a big deal. In fact, secure eCommerce is successful only if you manage to provide a safe environment for eShopers.

SSL security should by all means included in you safe browsing experience of your website, at least at the checkout process. SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer, and it is a request/response protocol that involves public and private keys, as well as a digital certificate. Most current web severs work with 128-bit security certificates, and most current web browsers are capable of working with a 128 bit public key. Older browsers, work with an encryption level of 40 bits.

SSL certificates need to be requested before http://www.verisign.com, its price should be around USD $895 and your approval will be received within one week. If your request is accepted your certificate needs to be installed on ISS. To test if your certificate is working quickly create a html web page and instead of using http://www.yourwebsite.com use https://www.yourwebsite.com.

Who said Google was on the Search Engine Business?

Impossible to believe for some, and long waited for others; intelligent cars that drive themselves will be within the market in some years from now. Scientists from many countries and companies have been working on it, but only one company can do it in such practical way. Google has already been testing its own technology for this purpose, in fact they have been doing for several months. The project is still under development, but based on Google awesomeness I believe that Google will start selling this technology if they sell it (maybe it'll be another freebie) in maybe one or two years.

As scientists not only from Google but from other several countries and companies around the world, this technology completely developed can change life forever, as it will reduce or eliminate the chances of accidents while driving and even lower gas usage. Please check the following video and feel free to spread the word and make comments:

Soccer Fans wait in line for FIFA 11

The already successful and great at sales FIFA 10 is going to be soon the old game. FIFA 11 is on the way, and people can pre-order it online. The new game promises to improve lots of things as usual. Graphics of course, would be one the issues to be improved, I don't really know what else can you improve when at this point graphics are almost real. Some of the new features will include better and more flexible for online gaming, some say that your triumphs will be also transferable to social network. The latest news say that now soccers fan who like the goalie position, can be the goalie.

Now for sure this are the new features of the game as listed on EA FIFA 11 website:
A new passing system where pass accuracy is determined by a gamer’s ability on the control pad, and player skill, situation and urgency on the pitch.
Personality + sees a soccer player’s performance on the pitch mirrored authentically in game, differentiated and replicated for every player’s skill-set
True freedom in man-to-man interactions, transforming physical play from individual lateral jostling to full 360° collisions involving multiple players
- Go online to craft your own player and create the team of your dreams. Plus, manage your team’s formations and tactics right from the web. Create your player’s appearance, accessories and attributes and then create a team with a distinctive crest and kits.
Assign customized chants for every team and league. Set your home club’s anthems and chants to play during player introductions, halftime, and after goals. Even hear your name echo in the stands of Old Trafford or San Siro with customized chants for your Virtual Pro. Plus, play music from your hard drive in game.
Save highlights from any match – including online – right to your hard drive to view, replay or upload to Footballworld.com at any time.

So far these are the feature from FIFA 11 website, log on or wait for the upcoming trailers.

Trackpad Connected Via USB

Trackpad from Apple is a very cool device and it's fun to use. However, it was really disappointing to have that device working only on Bluetooth mode way. First, because Bluetooth connects consumes more energy from your laptop and reduces the battery life. Second, even though wireless connectivity is where the world is heading it is very important to give users an alternative. This is where this spectacular product has fail to deliver the right solution.

As of today rumors, apparently Mac is working on a USB solution for this problem. Which is expected to be fixed soon, or at least that is what the rumors say. The rumors also indicate that the possible new feature would only take 5 volts of power from the battery whereas the original set up the Trackpad only takes 3 volts. So far the new idea is not ready as one of the issues was power management.

Google Chrome Store

Google has really went in into the applications market. What one year ago was something mostly impossible, right now is happening, all efforts from Google to be serious contender in the apps market for its own device or at list products/services are paying off.

Google Chrome Web Store is no more than a store for apps that will work Chrome. Apps can be free or paid. As of now the store was opened for developers, the percentage of the paid apps will will 95 percent for developers and the remaining to Google. An extra 30 cents will be charged for transaction fees.

With this new feature rolling Google is totally lined up for its upcoming tablet pc.

facebook places

It is a simple new app for Facebook users, that allows to display in your wall where your are located at certain moment. It is mostly intended to be used from a cellphone/smartphone, you just need to go to http://touch.facebook.com/ and from there you will be able to set the place where your are and check-in.

If you are using a computer you can also use the application just by going to the same link. It doesn't take long to do it, and it's fun enough to try. It also has some extra features like having a guest list so you can add people to a place where an event will be held, so they can check in and have a map view of the place their are going.

From my stand point the most important usage of this app, is Facebook when it is used for Business purposes, as it can enhance business owner a page that have some other good features that might lead into more sales getting to the know the place is going to be easier than ever. Check this link for some other ways of using this feature for business purposes.

This is a cool feature but it rises some security issues, while in the US is a safe feature to use and other developed countries. Countries like south american countries with social problems like kidnapping will have some issues as many user will be using this feature and it will be easier for terrorists to target their victims.

Google Tablet is getting closer

Today the new Google unveiled its new Google Chrome 6 version. It is still a beta version, but some major improvements have been included taking the most of html 5. Features like the geographical position where you are location while browsing the web are part of the new things to try out, this particular feature uses your ip connection ip or its uses GPS.

The weahterNear.me html 5 also works the same way as the Android, when you are close to a restaurant or specific landmarks etc, the this browser will let you know, it means that the Google tablet will definitely have this feature available.

The features have also been updated and adapted to the notifications, which have been integrated with  a transparent popup which doesn't interrupt at any point what you are doing. This would let you know when your Facebook friends send a new message or simply when you get a new email on your Gmail account.

Perhaps the most important of all is that it'll have multi-touch which means nothing that the table from Google is just around the corner, all its gadgets are ready to be installed on a new device.

Future of HP

HP's future may not look so bright, but it might look bright also. They have entered to the battle for the Tablet PC market. However this might a difficult one to one, having the current success of iPad and the imminentness success of Android Tablet.

HP bought Pam for $1.2 million, to get their apps teams to develop devices for their version table computing. They want to have a share and that is fair, however things everything is still plans even though the device is planned to be launched by early February of 2009.

I personally think HP is playing the catching up game, I don't see HP being competitive against guys that have already millions of developers interested in their devices, google's case it before it actually exists. Moreover, the market might not take as easy, this is a new technology that is attractive but given its simpleness can be tough to swallow.

Moreover, HP bought  a company which in its last days of independence was losing market share in every possible way. I hope the best to H but, they got to be careful, they should maybe install Android OS to their devices, why not? After all it is about to get the device rolling and HP knows about devices better than software.

User interface future - New devices Coming!

Many companies around the world in a battle to bring to life the new input device for computers that will rule the computing world as the mouse and keyboard do nowadays. Lots of imagination, creativity and extensive endless hours of work have brought new input devices that promise to be a blast in terms of coolness and productivity effectiveness.

Even though it is expensive, a company called Art Lebedev Design, a technology company focused on the developing new user interface and technology, is about to put in the market a device called the Optimus/Adaptive Keyboard. Known for being very expensive and for using touch screen controls system to display a keyboard. The device was built as a result of a contest that has as its only purpose to incentive new ideas.

This cool keyboard not lets people browse within applications and project, but also allows users to select the files they are looking for directly from the keyboard. I invite you to check this video I found on PCworld which will let some of you wondering when the digital future from the movies is going to be.

McAfee purchased by Intel

From any stand point of view, Intel's move has been clever. At a Glance, it simply means that Intel is now going to have a field to start making money. It is also important to know that McAfee is going to play a very important role and security matters, such that important that McAfee can simple become the biggest computer security system in history.

It is also assumed that this move will let Intel develop better devices based on security threats, which is going to lead to better computers and maybe a new way of using computers. In Computing terms, Meego the new OS system developed by Intel and Nokia is going to be in the market, and now that McAfee in on their side, a security back up is available which is going to look more appealing to users as it is going to be secure, directly from the factory.

Whatever the outcome is, for sure Intel has something big and nice prepared for all us, so stay tunned.

Facebook is about to meet it rival?

Rumors are currently wide spread that Google is working hard on a new social network. Nevertheless, these rumors all bring from the past unsuccessful stories from Google itself in the networking field. Examples such as Orkut, Wave and Buzz.

It is important to understand that Facebook is failing in many features at a time. The most important feature where Facebook is failing is in its users privacy. It has a way to personalize those features, so you can decide what do you want to share and what you don't want to share, but the process is a little bit too complicated.

This means that if "Google Me" comes up,  and fix the privacy problems and implements all its easy to do way of doing things, Facebook privileged position in the market is going to be soon in dispute. We still don't know if Facebook is going to finally meet their rival, but it is important to discuss that possibility as all of the bad things int has are openly discussed and why not this can lead to be fixed.

Technology cannot solve all the problems

It has been a while since we first saw presentation through a computer. In fact, we are now able to see them using a wide variety of software and hardware as technology is getting better and better. However, technology doesn't fix some of the basic problems people have while they are making presentations. They forget that using technology doesn't guarantee success, technology itself, unless you are the developer, is just a tool to make your life easier.

When making presentation people tend to forget that the fact that we can copy and paste as many content we want, it doesn't mean that we have to do it. I encourage to visit the link I will provide below. It contains 10 examples of what a presentation done with a computer shouldn't look like.

Take this a suggestion to improve your performance at school and the office, whenever you need to present something, a good presentation for a sales department could mean millions in sales, what if you apply for school now.

Black Friday it will be

According to rumors on Black Friday is going to launch their version of a tablet PC. This system is going to be running a Chrome OS from Google. However it is not only Google and HTC, Verizon is in the team playing the same role that At&t plays for the iPad.

What seems to be difference between this relation is that Verizon will be taking the sales and connectivity tasks, HTC the producer tasks and Google the OS task, in other terms each team member will be working where he is the best. So finally, some competence will be around for iPad, which in my opinion is a great device but, it can be definitely better.

Regardless what the outcome of this incredible market might be, the only beneficiaries are going to be the customers. We're going to get better devices, with new utilities at great prices.

Apple vs Google, the mobile OS battle

To the eyes of the world Apple gained lots of respect and followers. Not only because they have gained clients comparing themselves with Microsoft at almost ignorant consumer, but also because brilliant devices like iPhone and iPod are in the market.

However, regardless the fame acquired in the late years Apple is making the same mistake once they've done. They want to control everything. That is the bad part of apple, of course they use not have virus, because they were developing everything by themselves, now as they have to be more competitive, they had to let third party hardware and software to come in. This external sources relationship might work if you are willing to open up your doors, but if you are willing to open up your doors and limit developer, you are going to get right in the aim of hackers and criticism.

In the cellphones market, Apple is just wrong with the kind of answers they are giving to their customers and trying to point their weakness on someone else. They are also limiting basic and important business tools like the ones developed by Adobe to be played on all its devices, which is wrong because lets face it, what business in todays world doesn't have to deal with PDF files or flash information, or what regular student doesn't need PDF file or a flash video to complete their homework.

To sounds like Apple has serious issues to review, if they cannot rule the world of computing if their going to try to get always there way or there is no way. A lot for Steve Jobs to think about.

Internet Explorer 9, I've seen that before, didn't I?

Microsoft will put a beta version in internet explorer 9. It promises to be a new experience for IE users. However, once we see it I can tell that I've seen that before somewhere. According to the previous provided by Microsoft on Marc, my guess is that it looks just Chrome browser as it includes many of the features of Google's browser.

Basically it's going to be presented making emphasis on no toolbars and no extra features. It is suppose to take HTML 5 without any problems and CSS3. Which is going to allow it to display the latest advances and techniques for web developers and designers.

From my stand point looks like Microsoft is playing the catch up game, it not only plans to look like Chrome but also is making some huge advances on launching a tablet PC developed by Microsoft completely.

If you want to see a screen shot of Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) visit the following link:

e-books on portable devices are the students future?

While many schools across the country are heavily promoting the usage of e-books to make reduce the costs and make it easy for students, the hard copies of the same books are still outsold.

As a current student I have to say that is better for students to use e-books. I completed my first degree using hard copies which is still ok for me. With e-books students save money and can carry around all their library without the actual need of carrying something in their bags because most of this systems are internet based.

However, I also have to say that e-books from certain developers and publishers are just simply not good. As the school I attend is Devry, I will expose some of the weaknesses of the company MyScribe:

1. It takes ages to load
2. I doesn't allow students to export the books to portable devices such iPad, Kindle, iPhone, Palm and other devices
3. Browsing the book is a process that can take up to minutes instead of seconds, slow system.
4. You need an specific software
5. Source like amazon are up to 80% cheaper.

Other systems and schools have similar problems. Therefore I consider the future is with devices like iPad and Kindle.

Finally flash made it into Apple?

As dreamed by flash users and longly waited by most of the apple product users, flash made it to the Apple devices. However, it wasn't precisely Adobe's who brought it in. It was a software company who thought, well why not we start solving the flash issue for Apple products. The name of the company is Comex who are the developer if the browser Jailbreak.

Comex has included in their latest browser version the possibility of viewing flash content in its very early stages. It might no be the same quality that flash can reproduce in a computer but from now flash pages made into the big wireless devices market.

For sure new companies, including adobe itself might start producing flash player for Apple devices. All the market needed was the brave to show everybody that including was possible. The application works with iPhone 4, 3GS (with iOS4), third-generation iPod Touch, and iPads with the latest software (3.2.X)

Is Facebook hierarchy over?

Not that it is going to happen in the near future but there is a fair amount of new social media networks gaining new active users involved. However, for facebook it is important to understand the there are many companies fighting their position.

I consider it is too early to say that facebook's position in the market is going to threaten by small companies, in fact, I would say that small social networks are no significant danger for the Mega-Social network, but small companies are making interested joint ventures and are being purchased by big companies (Google on of those buyers). For sure Google, is not going to compete in the social media market, but acquiring small companies specialized on social networking to boost their revenue.

This new trend empowers small social networks, enhancing companies to be more creative and start catching new adepts.

The future for internet social media looks interesting, stay tune and enjoy what the market has to bring in as result of the its current conditions.

Jolicloud, Linux saved the day!

Once again, Linux saves the day. Notebooks and Netbooks were in the markets target because of the windows operating system they were running which made them slow after using them for a while. What happend to Google Wave?

It was supposed to be next generation of how the people would communicate. However, all of the sudden Google has called the plan over, without being finished. It was meant to be the largest project ever created to develop a software, with tons of collaborators and millions of new ideas.

Critics of it, say that Wave was simply to ambitious to what's already available in the market. People also said that is was so different from was it is available in the market right now, getting people to switch to it would have taken unmeasurable hours and efforts.

This is my version and the reason of why Wave didn't make it:
Even though it was too ambitious I think it was unveiled to early to the public, it was really frustrating for user like me, to not being able to have access to it in its early stages and being kept of having it for more than 6 months. When it was finally opened to everybody in May, most of the people who requested access to it wasn't informed about it. People like we had to find out by ourselves.

I think the idea is still doable and I think it will catch on, very easy as the time goes by, which will give google and its collaborators the time to make improvements.

Now nobody is using it because its access was limited given the expectation created over it, I think Google relaunch it redefining its strategy.

What's going to be the future of tablet pc's?

As Android is going to release their first version of the tablet, and other brands had announced their own version of the tablet PC. The future of tablets is uncertain, but for sure end users are going to be the beneficiaries of the competing market.

The future for iPad is not so clear after all, now that internet's big boy just decided to play in the market with its until today successful mobile operating system, Google. My hope is that Apple is about to meet some bumps in the road, however as of now Apple is leading the race and they are working already on the third and second generation of iPad which are promises to be more business friendly.

Microsoft shooting their own foot

Sadly S. Ballmer Microsoft's is pursuing a dead end strategy, he is stubbornly pursuing a Microsoft Tablet device while he instead should be worried about getting every company using their server operating system as well as having every computer user using their Office suite.

I consider that Microsoft should be focusing their efforts on having their developers focused on creation functionalities for the new devices in the mobile / tablet market. That will guarantee that households and companies will continue to use the reliability of windows applications such as office, messenger.

Stay tune for further reports in this technology market. If you want to read more about this particular issue, please go to pcworld.com and read the article:  Microsoft Needs a Tablet Strategy, Not a Tablet

3D Cameras Now Available!

Magic Trackpad by Apple

We have seen the wonders of the many other Apple products. Nevertheless the question for today is: How the Magic Trackpad is going to perform in the market?

I personally think, Apple's Magic Track pad is going to do very well but it is not going to replace the mouse. The reason why I think this is because as computer users we are used to use the mouse already. More, even though this a "new cool toy", laptop users consider their builtin mouse unconfortable when you really need to work and get results. Using a mouse increases the speed of our performance and don't think desktop users are going to change the confortness of their mice for a device that can be very nice to have but not productive in terms of time.

However, that doesn't mean that this device is not going to make in the market. In fact, given the large amount of lover of Mac, my guess is that we are going to be a large amount of these devices in the market pretty soon.

What are San Francisco Cell Phone users suppose to do with the new information?

San Francisco has taken an initiative that would make cell phone retailers include a radiation information of the device they are about to buy. While as explained by PC World, the law idea is understandable, the purpose of the idea is misleading. What are customers suppose to do with this information.

Important organizations and government have taken part in the situation. Nevertheless no one has taken into account what the consumer himself thinks about it and what benefits would it bring to society if the law is passed. PC world magazine states in its article "San Francisco's Cell Phone Radiation Law: Misguided at Best" also states that exposure to cellphone radiation and health problems still don't have any proven connection.

If a strong argument (scientific) proves any health problems the benefits for cell phones users will be unlimited as they would have cellphone companies produce better and safer to use devices.

Microsoft Future

On Thursday, the software giant Microsoft reported its quarterly earnings. The numbers were so good that no only have helped the stock market close, but also are about 28% percent more if compared to last years quarter. Furthermore, Microsoft have set and claimed another record, making their latest operating system, Windows 7, the fastest operating system sold in history. Nearly 10% of the world's computers run Windows 7.

Nevertheless, if the present is bright the future presents itself with some uncertainty. As the market keeps going towards mobile and portable computer, which are fields that Microsoft is not as solid as expected. In fact Steve Balmer, Microsoft's CEO, have announced some time ago that Microsoft have no intentions to compete anymore on the smartphones market.

According to PC World magazine "Microsoft sees its Bing search, Xbox Live, and budding cloud services as areas of growth--but they're not there yet."

Our best hopes for this big american corporation which is about to face some challenges.

Apple does not want to be responsible

Believe or not, Apple the company that was making everything good until its iPhone 4 is now making things all wrong. Who would have though about a good and profitable company like apple, that was always ahead of the market with edgy and stylish unique designs, would simply start fighting back with excuses and pointing the finger on someone else.

Well it happened, and sadly they just did in the worst possible way. They pointed the finger on all the other companies they directly compete with in the smart phones market. The not only were able to come up with a solution for the "deathgrip" but also unprofessionally and in a childish way the just tried to make their problem others' companies problem too.

We'll see what the future holds for the company that so many were in love and seemed to have a golden future in sales. It's really disappointing to see this situation as apple was meant to be one of the companies that was to discover the future of tech applets for the world.

The top 5 applets for the summer - according PC world

How many of us have though of being able to do some of the things that we currently do while we are swimming? Wouldn't it be cool to be able to take calls or even listen to music while you are swing the same way you would do it running?

Well those ideas are not anymore something crazy, in fact you can already buy them. For instance, there's a company called the Magellan's ToughCase which lets people take their iPhone into the water up to 30 meters. Nevertheless, if you actually don't care about bringing your cellphone with you to swim but you consider important to have music while swimming you there is a device called VBT waterproof headphones. This device can be used with the ToughCase to connect your iPhone/iPod with your headphones set; it also has an onboard mp3 player if you don't have an iTouch or iPhone, or if you consider the Tough case is not just for you.

Follow the link to check the other three hot devices for this summer. Wet Tech - PCWorld
